Mary Queen of Peace A Roman Catholic Elementary School in the Diocese of Cleveland

Message from the Principal

Our website will provide you with information about our philosophy, our programs and all of the wonderful things that take place at our school.

As principal, I believe that all children can learn. They require a caring environment that is safe and structured, an environment that allows and provides for individual and collective growth. This caring culture is based on Christian values. Since each child is a unique individual, he/she has the right to learn in his or her own way to ensure success. We believe in educating the whole child emotionally, physically, cognitively, and socially.

The initiative to "give back" as a community began in the fall of 2009 and continues. We want everyone to know that our students are the light and future of the community. We want to give to those who have given so much to us.

My vision for Mary Queen of Peace School comes from its existing mission statement: "is a Christ-filled learning community which fosters family, integrity, and spiritual growth." We have over one hundred years of history and tradition that we will rely upon as we move forward in the future.

During the past few years, we have begun technology upgrade initiatives throughout the school. Our classrooms have Activ Boards (interactive whiteboards) and ELMO LCD projectors to assist in the learning process. We also have clicker devices that allow our students to take tests and quizzes using the Activ Board software. With the assistance of generous donors and ERate, we have been able to purchase a cart of Mac Laptops a server, and our building is now wireless. We allotted monies to purchase 60 iPads, and 25 iPods. As you can see, our students have the tools they need to make them 21st Century Learners.

We are also offering several exciting professional development opportunities for our instructional staff. The Diocese of Cleveland provides most of these offerings. The topics are in the areas of reading, math, writing instruction, science, social studies, differentiated instruction, interdisciplinary unit planning, technology, and curriculum mapping. As our school moves forward we remain committed to ensuring excellence in staff development opportunities, which are critical in creating lifelong learners in our professional staff and our students.

Please feel free to visit our school. We are proud to be part of such a wonderful family of learners. Our halls resonate with warmth and positive energy.

Blessings,
Mrs. Jennifer Berardinelli, Principal
